OVERALL ELIGIBILITY AND CONCESSION CRITERIA

Entry Requirements

Domestic Australian students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to study business and management, hospitality management, and commercial cookery courses and 17 years of age to study all health and community services courses.
Australian students under 17 years of age must have a Notice of Arrangements (NoA) or a Section 24 exemption form in place before they can enrol in a course.
All domestic government-funded students must hold the right to live and work in Australia permanently without any conditions on their visas. For government-funded programs, students must hold a valid Medicare Card or Health Care Card for concession fees.
All domestic students need to demonstrate they have proficiency in Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills. Students may be required to sit an LLN test before a place can be offered.
For Certificate III level courses, students must have completed a minimum of Year 10 schooling or equivalent, with pass marks in English and Mathematics or be a mature age student (20 years of age and above).
For direct entry into Diploma level courses, students must have completed a minimum of Year 12 schooling or equivalent or be a mature age student with relevant work experience (20 years of age and above).
For direct entry into Advanced Diploma level courses, students must have completed an Australian qualification at the diploma level or equivalent.

Alternative / Mature Age Entry
Empyrean Education Institute offers several admission alternatives and a holistic approach to assessing individual applicants, including the opportunity for an interview combined with consideration of a recognised certificate, overseas qualifications, or two years of relevant work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Empyrean Education Institute supports the Australian Qualifications Framework with the objective of facilitating pathways to, and through, formal qualifications. In support of this objective, all academic studies and prior learning will be taken into consideration when applying to Empyrean Education Institute.

Credit Transfer
Empyrean Education Institute will grant credit transfer for the same unit with the same unit code awarded by other RTOs in Australia. Please complete a credit transfer application form with all supporting documents at the time of application. If the credit transfer is approved, students are exempted from studying the same unit and are offered alternative units or a reduction in fees and course duration.

Eligibility for Concession Fees

The following persons and their dependents are entitled to the concession rate on course fees if they are holding one of the followings:

  1. A Pensioner Concession Card.
  2. A Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
  3. A Health Care Card.
  4. Persons and dependents of persons in receipt of AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY.
  5. Persons and dependents of persons in receipt of the Youth Allowance.
  6. Persons and dependents of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution.
  7. Secondary school aged persons, not enrolled at school.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • International students and some temporary residents are charged at rates determined by Empyrean Education Insitute. Persons holding a temporary visa of sub-class 309, 820, 826, secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457, holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790 or New Zealand passport holders are to be treated as Australian residents for fee charging purposes and are also eligible for fee waivers and concessions. Other visa sub-class holders have to enroll under Domestic Fee for Service Fee schedule.

    If the concession is valid for the full enrolment period, then all eligible units commenced within that period attract the concession rate. If the concession is valid for part of the enrolment period, then only eligible units commenced on or after the start date and prior to the expiry of the concession attract the concession rate.

    Students not enrolled at school are exempt from course and resource fees if they:

    1. are under the care of the Chief Executive Officer of the Department for Child Protection and Family Support; and
    2. are a secondary school aged person; or
    3. are under 18 years of age. Students in State Government care who are enrolled at school are eligible for a fee exemption under section 6.3.2.

The following students are eligible for a concession rate on fees (for training up to Certificate IV level).

  • Persons and dependants of persons holding:
    — a Pensioner Concession Card; OR
    — a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs; OR
    — a Health Care Card.
  • Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of services from the following Commonwealth support or employment services programs:
    — Workforce Australia; OR
    — ParentsNext.
  • Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY
  • Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of the Youth Allowance.
  • Persons and dependants of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution.
  • Secondary school-aged persons, not enrolled at school.
